BVDS wins Wood Award for The Studio

We are very excited to announce that we won at this years Wood Awards. We won in the existing building category for The Studio project.

The Wood Awards, begun in 1971, is the UK’s premier competition for excellence in architecture and product design in the world’s only naturally sustainable material.

Other winners on the night were Zaha Hadid, Foster and Partners, Niall McLaughlan and Hopkins architects, so we are very honoured to be in such established and talented company.

The judges were impressed by the way that our imaginative approach created a family home out of what would previously have seemed an unliveably small area, and that, despite having no external space, the building never feels claustrophobic.

They described the project as ‘a charming and imaginative home for a small but growing family.

The award is the first of hopefully many to be won by Bradley Van Der Straeten Architects.
