Ewald and Jessica were on hand last Saturday at The Building Centre for free design surgery to advise and inspire Londoners looking to improve and not move! Run by New London Architecture.
These free consultations are a great chance for a chat with experienced refurbishment architects, set amongst the exhibition of the shortlisted DMI dwellings for 2019- delighted to be in the great company of some lovely firms like Archmongers and Con Form Architects.
Last night, we were delighted to attend the very busy Don’t Move, Improve! 2019 Awards where our project Woodworker’s Studio was lucky enough to be shortlisted.
While we weren’t fortunate enough to pick up any of the awards it was wonderful to see our project in amongst such amazing competition. The very deserving winner of the main award was a beautifully repurposed Chapel by Craftworks featuring an amazing origami-like ceiling.
You can see the list of winners here or the full shortlist here.
The Don’t Move, Improve! 2019 exhibition is on display at The Building Centre on Store Street until end March.

This evening you can see where our involvement with Love Your Home and Garden started a year ago as the first episode of the show to feature our Directors George + Ewald will be shown again at 8pm on ITV1.
In the show, you can see how George + Ewald transformed the home of Manisha, Rajeev and Aryan, who has cerebral palsy, to create a more open, accessible space and an easy route to the garden.
You can read about the full project and see photos of the finished home here.
You can also read a behind the scenes account of the design process on the two episodes of the most recent series of Love Your Home and Garden from George + Ewald in their blog here.
Following on from last week’s home and garden transformation, our Directors George + Ewald are back on screens tonight in ITV1’s Love Your Home and Garden, to improve the home of Anne & Mike.
At a time when more than 800,000 people now live in the UK with dementia, tonight’s episode will see George + Ewald, alongside fellow presenters, Alan Titchmarsh, Katie Rushworth and Kunle Barker transform Anne & Mike’s home to enable Mike, who has been living with dementia and Parkinson’s disease for the past 10 years, to get around his home and into his garden more easily and find comfort in a more dementia-friendly space.
The team will redesign the back of the property to give access to the garden with George + Ewald redesigning the confusing layout of the ground floor, putting in a new kitchen and widening the bedroom so it’s easier for Mike to get around and for the whole family to spend quality time together.
You can catch Love Your Home and Garden at 8pm tonight on ITV1. You can also read about the making of episode 1 in George & Ewald’s new blog here.
We are delighted that our Directors George and Ewald will be back on our screens tonight presenting a second series of ITV1’s Love Your Home and Garden. Alongside fellow presenters, Alan Titchmarsh, Katie Rushworth and Kunle Barker, George and Ewald will transform the homes and gardens of deserving people across the country.
In the first episode, George and Ewald convert the home of Benita and her 15-year-old son Josh, who lives with multiple disabilities and uses a wheelchair. As it is, the house is challenging for them to live in and prevents them from doing the things they enjoy. Like any 15 year-old boy, Josh loves the outdoors but due to the layout and restrictions in his home, is unable to access parts of the house and can’t get into his garden meaning he is increasingly confined to the house. Benita loves cooking, but the kitchen is too small for her to be together with Josh.
In the programme, George and Ewald create a new layout in the semi-detached house so that Benita can wheel Josh from the front door out to the back garden with ease and relocate the previous tiny, inaccessible kitchen into a state of the art glasshouse so Benita and Josh can cook together for the first time.
‘Working on the show with Alan Titchmarsh and the team has been a real privilege for us as architects. We both believe in the power that good design has to change peoples’ lives. To transform the homes of families who have faced consistent challenges and to be able to empower them, through their newly designed homes to achieve independence, happiness and increased well-being/comfort is why we do what we do” George Bradley, Director
You can catch Love Your Home and Garden on ITV1 at 8pm on Tuesdays.
